Two Professional Codes of Conduct
WRHBA Code of Conduct - ALL MEMBERS
WRHBA Member Companies are committed to providing superior service, and that is why they agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct, which promises a standard of performance higher than common industry practice.
Members shall comply with applicable building codes with the Ontario Building Code as a minimum standard for construction and shall work towards its improvement in the interests of structural sufficiency, safety and health.
New Home Builder Members must hold a valid license with the Home Construction Regulatory Authority of Ontario (HCRA)
Members shall plan their sites and homes to conform to the principles of good community planning and support for the environment.
Members shall deal justly with their employees, subcontractors, and suppliers of all goods and services.
Members shall deal honestly and fairly with their customers and stand behind the quality of their work and service commitments.
Members shall exchange information and experience and encourage research on materials, technical advancements and building techniques in order to provide the best value for their customers.
Members shall avoid conduct or practice detrimental to the house building industry, to the Association, to the good name or reputation of any of its members, or to its customers.
Members shall commit to continuing learning through human resource policies and practices, including employment practices, which treat employees as assets.
Members shall actively promote health and safety principles.
Members shall treat their competitors, including their property and ideas, with respect.
RenoMark™ Code of Conduct – RENOVATION MEMBERS
RenoMark™ members have agreed to abide to this renovation-specific Code of Conduct:
- Be a member in good standing of the local Canadian Home Builders’ Association.
- Abide by the Association’s Code of Ethics.
- Provide a detailed, written contract (including scope of work) for all jobs.
- Offer a minimum two year warranty on all work (excludes minor home repair).
- Carry a minimum of $2 million liability insurance.
- Have coverage for workplace safety and employers’ liability and/or work only with subcontractors who carry such coverage.
- Carry applicable licenses and permits.
- Have access to information, education, training and professional development through membership in the Association.
- Maintain a safe and organized worksite.
- Return phone calls within two business days.
Members assume these responsibilities freely and are solemnly mindful that they are part of our obligations as members of the Waterloo Region Home Builders Association and as members of the Ontario Home Builders Association and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association. We hereby agree to observe the Constitution and Code of Ethics of the Association and to hold the Association, its Officers and Members harmless with respect to any disciplinary actions which may be imposed as a result of future activities. It is the mandate of the Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association at all levels, local, provincial and national to provide information, promote membership and foster communication, e.g., catalogues of Members, Internet information, new products and services etc.
